Alanya - Atatürk House and Museum
Alanya-Atatürk House and Museum is in Alanya's Şekerhane District, Azaklar Street.
Atatürk came to Alanya Pier on the morning of February 18, 1935 during his Mediterranean cruise with the Aegean Ferry in February 1935, and rested for a few hours in the two-storey house of Tevfik Azakoğlu, one of Alanya's deep-rooted families. The last owner of the house, Rıfat Azakoğlu, donated the house to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Ministry started to repair and organize it as Atatürk House and Museum in 1984. The house was opened to visitors with a ceremony on April 30, 1987 by President Kenan Evren.
Alanya-Atatürk House and Museum is one of the historical examples of civil architecture in Alanya. On the first floor of the house, photographs of Atatürk, belonging to the War of Independence and the first years of the Republic, and some of Atatürk's belongings are exhibited. The administration, library and kitchen are on this floor. The upper floor of the house keeps an old Alanya house alive as living, working and bedrooms.
